Sevierville is Becoming The Place To Come To!

Several major projects are changing the face of the City of Sevierville!

The city opened a new EVENTS CENTER in 2007 and WILDERNESS RESORT opened a new hotel to serve that facility in June. New condominiums are being built across from the Events Center. Along with these a huge water park is being built to accompany them. This water park has inside and outside swimming pools and lazy rivers. It is for the guests of Wilderness Resorts so why not come and stay a while!

The only interstate exit in the county, Exit 407, is also experiencing major growth. Since the 2005 opening of Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World, several other businesses have opened in the area, and work has started on Dumplin Creek, a major retail development that runs alongside Interstate 40.

Sevierville is the county seat and has the largest population of any municipality with more than 13,000 residents.

Like the county, the city is named for John Sevier, the first governor. It is the eighth oldest city in the state, founded in 1795 and incorporated in 1901.

The courthouse and much of downtown Sevierville are on the National Register of Historic Places. We would love to have you come and visit our city!

First Blog for TCRE

Our new website has been up for a few months now; and we want you, our customers, to become more familiar with us and our desire to serve you. Our new owners, Geri Rennie and Ginger Riggs eagerly took up the reigns of Thompson Carr Real Estate in April of this year and are going forward with new ideas. They have redesigned our logo to catch the attention of those looking for property. They added Markler (a software program) as a marketing tool to efficiently handle our listings and closings. They will continue to find ways to help us grow with our county. We are dedicated to help our customers fulfill their dreams.

For those who don't know much about our county, we want to share the following with you.

Sevier County is one of the fastest growing counties in the state. The current population is estimated to be more than 80,000. In 1990 the population was 51,043. By the 2000 Census, the county had grown to 71,170 or by 39 percent.

Census estimates show Sevier County grew by 6.1 percent from April 2000 to July 2003 - more than 2.7 percent average for the whole state.

Sevier County covers 592 square miles with about one-third of that being the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Municipalities within the county are Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, Pittman Center and Gatlinburg. There are also several smaller, unincorporated communities in the county, including Kodak, Wears Valley and Catons Chapel.

Seymour, between Sevierville and Knoxville, is the county's largest community, but is not incorporated.

The county's growth spurt came late, spurred by the birth of the tourism industry about 20 years ago. The largest percent growth in the county's population came between 1970 and 1980, when population grew by almost 50 percent.
